Acupuncture is a technique of inserting and manipulating fine needles into specific points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes. Acupuncture is one of the many services we offer at Clinix Center for Health.

What is the benefit of Acupuncture?

Through clinical trials, acupuncture has been proven effective in treating various medical conditions and its use has been expanded into conventional medicine practices.

What is the holistic benefit of Acupuncture?

Acupuncture works directly with the body’s energy or qi, as acupuncture practitioners believe that all illnesses are a result of the natural flow of energy through the body becoming stuck, depleted or weakened and thus making the individual susceptible to illness. Acupuncture benefits the rebalance of qi through treatment of specific acupoints related to symptoms or illness present. Treatment is effective in removing these energy obstructions.

Dry Needling & Cupping

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a modern Western medicine principle with emphasis on treating neuromusculoskeletal pain and helping functional movement impairments. In comparison to Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, dry needling does not include the treatment of systemic illnesses or conditions or treatment of a person’s energy or “chi”.

Why is it called Dry Needling?

Dry needles, or thin monofilament needles which are also used in acupuncture, are inserted into the skin. No solutions or medications are injected, the needle is used by itself. At Clinix, electric stimulation may be applied to the needles to provide a gentle pulsation to help relax muscles even more.

What does it treat?

It is used to treat muscle trigger points, or knots. Research shows this increases endorphins (feel good hormones that decrease pain) and blood flow.

What is Cupping?

Cupping is an ancient alternative medicine practice in which bulb-shaped cups are used to pull the skin and underlying muscle fascia, bringing blood flow into an area of pain or inflammation. This releases adhesions in muscle tissue and is similar to massage therapy. Cupping involves distraction (pulling) instead of compression as in massage
